Cross-disciplinary Research in the Public Interest
The New Mexico Consortium is owned and managed by the three New Mexico Universities: New Mexico State University, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and The University of New Mexico.
The New Mexico Consortium integrate the strengths of New Mexico's research universities and build strategic connections with scientific institutions throughout the world in order to support and promote scientific research and education in the state.
Approach
Short-term: Enhance existing programs and enable major new research proposals and innovative educational programs.
Intermediate-term: Provide vision and intellectual leadership to State and Federal ‘Roadmaps’ and program planning, and to invest early in preparation for new major research funding opportunities.
Long-term: Foster an environment where promising ideas may be conceived, challenged, prototyped, and matured.
Goals
- Propose large scale research efforts across organizational and disciplinary lines
- Establish enhanced infrastructure and shared facilities
- Define and implement internally funded research and development
- Contribute to state and national scientific research priorities
- Foster and develop educational programs for student benefit, recruitment and retention in New Mexico
