Requirements
  • Master’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related field
  • 3+ years of research experience in an academic or corporate life science laboratory
  • Extensive experience with bench top wet chemistry techniques
  • Knowledge and relevant experience in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation
    • Experience with Waters system preferred
  • Laboratory Experience including, but not limited to
    • Experience with the measurement of chemical analyte or metabolites
    • Sample processing and extraction by liquid-liquid or liquid-solid phase extraction

Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, plant biology, or related areas
  • 3+ years of laboratory research in an academic or corporate biology setting
  • Strong understanding of biology including extensive experience with molecular cloning, DNA, RNA, and protein quantitative/qualitative assays.

Postdoctoral Associate - Plant Transformation Science

This is an opportunity for a postdoctoral associate to join a team working on the production and modification of plant secondary metabolites. You’ll be working with senior scientists on developing experimental strategies and approaches related to hemp transformation. This individual must have a PhD with prior experience in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation.

  • PhD in plant biology, molecular, cell biology, biochemistry or related field

Candidates with multiple competencies are preferred but it is not a prerequisite. Ideal candidates should have a PhD and postdoctoral experience in related fields as well as an excellent publication record. This job requires creative and critical thinking, ambition to excel, the ability to work independently, and availability to work long days to meet deadlines. Starting salaries range from $75,000-$90,000/yr depending on experience and productivity.

Microalgal Biotechnology Research Service Position

The NMC is offering an opportunity for an interested candidate to participate in exploratory research at the NMC Biological Laboratory. This is a part-time unpaid service position, with a minimum level of effort of 10 hrs/week.Our plant biology initiative performs basic research with impacts on sustainable energy production through biofuels, food security and climate induced ecological change. This is a valuable opportunity for a graduate student, retired scientist, or scientist re-entering the workforce to help advance original research, participate in the scientific publication process, hone laboratory skills and collaborate with other researchers at the NMC.

Responsibilities:

The research will involve PCR screening of transgenic algae. Duties will include:

  • Development of trait-specific bioassays
  • Evaluating gene regulation
  • Developing plasmid constructs
  • Help design and conduct scientific experimental protocols
  • Provide rigorous data assessment and result reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in microbiology, molecular biology or comparable discipline
  • Competence in molecular biology techniques
  • Experience working under sterile laboratory conditions
