Summer Physics Camp for Young Women is still happening! Applications are being accepted now for the ALL VIRTUAL 2020 Summer Physics Camp for Young Women in Northern New Mexico. This camp will run be run virtually from June 8-19, 2020 and is available to young women who have completed Algebra I or a higher level math course.
This two week long camp offers a unique VIRTUAL opportunity to explore what careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are all about. The camp will focus on boosting understanding of how STEM is allowing us to accomplish what was unimaginable just a few years ago: exploring Mars, understanding the Big Bang, decifering how DNA folds, understanding fire, predicting the flu and understanding the impacts of meteorites.
The camp will teach the students practical skills such as writing a resume, interviewing for a job, how to build your own computer, as well as the basics of computer programming. The camp will also introduce the students to internships at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and local NM colleges.
The camp will showcase lots of the cool research performed at Los Alamos National Laboratory research facilities and the New Mexico Consortium Biolab.
When: June 8-19, 2020, Monday through Friday, from 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm
