33rd Annual Supercomputing Challenge Kickoff A Success!
The 2022–2023 Supercomputing Challenge Kickoff was held October 22–23, 2022, at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico. Approximately 80 of the 169 registered participants attended the 33rd Annual Kickoff in person.
On Saturday, students took part in a keynote presentation, a variety of classes, and a pizza party, followed by an additional keynote and evening elective classes. Sunday’s schedule included morning classes, lunch, and a keynote presentation from the previous year’s first-place winners.
Participating teams also attended a “Meet the Scientist” event, where they worked with mentors to narrow their ideas into manageable project topics. During this session, teams also began dividing responsibilities and starting their research.
Project proposals from participating students are due today, October 31.
Students struggling to finish their proposal can contact consult@supercomputingchallenge.org to set up a Meet The Scientist time for their team to talk through and get the beginning of their project started.
Keynotes and some class sessions recorded for those who could not attend in person. These can be found at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhV9wXopd3ytfEd0-fWmG_AWN0p_MiCEd
