Hold the Date for Cosmic Frontiers 2025!
Hold the date for Cosmic Frontiers 2025. This two-day event will be held May 3-4, 2025 in Los Alamos. This is the second in a planned yearly ‘Cosmic Frontiers’ series for New Mexico, following a very successful Cosmic Frontiers 2024 – Stephen Hawking and the Universe.
The 2025 program will focus on the planets and bring together eminent planetary scientists and astronomers for three main scientific sessions: Planets in our solar system, Exoplanets, and Methodology for planetary study and exploration.
The goals of this year’s Cosmic Frontiers are to excite students and the local public to:
- Think about planetary bodies
- Learn about how the cosmos can be studied
- Discuss and communicate science to the public
- Understand LANL’s contribution to space research
The scientific talks will be divided equally between presentations from scientists from Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico universities and from outside New Mexico. Currently, the confirmed speakers include:
- Former NASA Astronaut John Grunsfeld, President & CEO, Endless Frontier Associates
- Charles “Karl” Hibbitts, Research Scientist, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory
- Natalie Hinkel, Planetary Astrophysicist, Asst. Professor of Physics & Astronomy, Louisiana State University
- Wladimir Lyra an Associate Professor of Astronomy, New Mexico State University
- Raúl Morales-Juberías a Professor of Physics at New Mexico Tech.
- Bryan Butler, Scientist, National Radio Astronomy Observatory
- Charles “Chip” Shearer a Research Professor at University of New Mexico
