Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe

April 27-28, 2024

The New Mexico Consortium is hosting Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe, a two-day event April 27-28, 2024 centered around scientist Stephen Hawking.

The event, the first in a planned yearly ‘Cosmic Frontiers’ series, brings together eminent cosmologists and astrophysicists who worked with or were mentored by Professor Stephen Hawking. There will be a screening of the 1992 Sundance Grand Jury award winning theatrical documentary, A Brief History of Time, based on Hawking’s best-selling book of the same name.  There will be a Q&A with the Executive Producer of the film, Gordon Freedman.  Ray LaFlamme, Kip Thorne, Emil Mottola, Thomas Hertog, Laura Mersini-Houghton, Fumika Suzuki, Paul Davies and Bill Unruh will discuss the science since the film came out and where we are on the topic, as well as give personal stories about Hawking. Book signings and stargazing will also be part of the festivities.  Learn more at www.cosmicfrontiers.org

All components of the event will be free and open to the public, but entry tickets must be reserved. Tickets will be available now on the SALA Los Alamos Event Center website:
