Dr. Gupta Presented at UNM’s Alzheimer Disease Research Center

The University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) will be held a seminar featuring Dr. Goutam Gupta of the New Mexico Consortium which took place Thursday Aug 11, 2022 at 1pm. More than 10,000 researchers attended the conference to share the latest in Alzheimer’s and dementia science.

Dr. Gupta presented on Neurological & Viral Diseases in Humans. See the ADRC Seminar Flyer for more information. Please forward to anyone who may be interested.

More than 6 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease currently. Scientists are working hard on research to help with earlier detection, prevention, and new treatments for Alzheimer’s and all dementia. This conference covers many new ideas about what makes us at risk, as well as a diverse array of treatments and prevention methods for Alzheimer’s disease and all dementia.

Human neurological disease can be caused by the expansion of DNA repeat s in the human genome. Fragile X syndrome and myotonic dystrophy are two such examples of genetically inherited neurological disorders. Structural, molecular, and cellular biology experiment s are performed to understand the mechanism of DNA repeat expansion in such diseases. Also similar experiment s are performed to determine how the knowledge of virus-cell interactions can be exploited to develop diagnosis and therapy of COVID-19.
