Enterprise Bank & Trust Los Alamos Region President Liddie Martinez on Thursday presented a $15,000 sponsorship to CEO Dr. John Engen of the New Mexico Consortium for its upcoming event, “Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe”.

“We are honored to sponsor the first Cosmic Frontiers conference in Los Alamos,” Martinez said. “The universe is a never ending source of awe and discovery. Our scientific community includes expertise in cosmology and we are delighted to help showcase this science with our partner, the New Mexico Consortium.

This event will take place April 27-28. It is centered around scientist Stephen Hawking and brings  together eminent cosmologists and astrophysicists who worked with or were mentored by Professor Hawking.

“We appreciate Enterprise Bank & Trust and all of our community partners for supporting science and education in Los Alamos,” Dr. Engen said.

During the event there will be a screening of the 1992 Sundance Grand Jury award winning theatrical documentary, A Brief History of Time, based on Hawking’s best-selling book of the same name. There will be a Q&A with the Executive Producer of the film, Gordon Freedman.

Ray LaFlamme, Kip Thorne, Emil Mottola, Thomas Hertog, Laura Mersini-Houghton, Fumika Suzuki, and Paul Davies will discuss the science since the film came out and where we are on the topic, as well as give personal stories about Hawking.

Book signings and stargazing will also be part of the festivities.
