The Los Alamos Kite Festival, sponsored by the New Mexico Consortium, will be held virtually this year. The kite flying youth and young at heart of Los Alamos are all encouraged to participate!
The Virtual Kite Festival will allow the community to make kites at home, and fly at their leisure.
The Kite Festival, presented by the Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) and Fuller Lodge Art Center, will kick off this Thursday, July 9th. Join us from 7 am to 12:30 pm at the Los Alamos Farmers Market where LAAC will be handing out kite kits. Kits will include almost everything needed to make a kite – the sail, the struts, and all the pieces to hold it together, as well as the bridle and fly line.
This Free Event is for everyone in the community. LAAC encourages participates to share their kite flying, kite creations and artwork with their friends and family. After kites are built and decorated, Los Alamos Arts Council wants to see participants’ designs!
Send pictures of kites to laarts@rt66.com or post them to social media on the LAAC Facebook and Instagram pages with the hashtag #2020LosAlamosKiteFestival.
