New Mexico Consortium To Host ‘Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe’
The New Mexico Consortium is pleased to announce we will be hosting an event titled Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe on April 27-28, 2024. This two day event will be the first in an annual “Cosmic Frontiers” series and will be centered around scientist Stephen Hawking.
John Engen, The NMC CEO states, “We wanted to reinvigorate the conversation around our place in the Universe, connections with Oppenheimer, and space and cosmology research at LANL. What better way to do that than by discussing Stephen Hawking?”
The event, which will take place at SALA in Los Alamos, will include a screening of the 1991 film on Hawking, “A Brief History of Time” which won the prestigious Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize (1992) and a Q&A with the Executive Producer of the film. Invited cosmology and astrophysics experts will include Ray LaFlamme, Kip Thorne, Thomas Hertog, Laura Mersini-Houghton, and Paul Davies. Besides scientific discussions, there will also be book signings and stargazing included over the weekend.
