A new research building has been approved for the New Mexico Consortium (NMC). In December 2019, the science non-profit sold its biological laboratory building on Entrada Drive to Pebble Labs, one of the NMC supported start-up companies. At the same time a new building has been in the works for the last 18 months.
Recently, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan and two waivers for the Los Alamos Commerce Development Corporation (LACDC) to construct the new building.
The plan is that the LACDC will build the building and then lease it to the New Mexico Consortium. The location is perfect for the NMC since many of the NMC research scientists and students are already at the LA Research Park building just next door to where the new building is planned.
At this new research building, the New Mexico Consortium will continue to:
- coordinate and leads collaborative research programs,
- support economic development,
- organize meetings, workshops and conferences,
- and provide meeting and research facilities,
The goal of the NMC is to develop, implement and continually improve models for pursuing and conducting collaborative research across our partner institutions.
