Quantum New Mexico Symposium
The University of New Mexico will host the first Quantum New Mexico (QNM) Symposium on Thursday, March 31, and Friday, April 1, 2022. This inaugural event will bring together researchers, institutions, and leaders from across the state to highlight New Mexico’s growing strength in quantum information science and technology.
The symposium will focus on the depth and breadth of quantum research and programming taking place throughout New Mexico. Sessions will highlight opportunities to strengthen the state’s quantum ecosystem, build the local quantum economy, support the development of a quantum-ready workforce, and encourage collaboration among leading institutions.
The event will be offered in both in-person and virtual formats. Sessions on Thursday, March 31, will be held in person in Ballroom B of the UNM Student Union Building. Programming on Friday, April 1, will take place virtually. Attendees who wish to participate in the in-person portion of the event should indicate that preference when submitting their RSVP.
Quantum New Mexico will feature participation from many of the state’s leading research institutions and organizations, including the University of New Mexico, Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Air Force Research Laboratory, New Mexico State University, and others. Together, these institutions represent a strong foundation for advancing quantum science, developing new technologies, and expanding workforce opportunities across New Mexico.
The symposium is designed to serve as a platform for conversation, collaboration, and strategic planning around the future of quantum science in the state. By bringing together academic, national laboratory, government, and industry perspectives, the event will help identify shared priorities and opportunities for continued growth.
The first Quantum New Mexico Symposium marks an important step toward strengthening New Mexico’s role in the rapidly expanding field of quantum information science and technology.
