The NMC’s Service Affiliate and Intern Program recruits motivated and talented individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to work on significant projects. Service Affiliates may be retired scientists, university and high school students, or individuals wanting to make a career change. Service Affiliates join the NMC to understand specific scientific research, acquire hands-on experience in laboratory research, or enrich their education.

Research and Research Support
The NMC offers unpaid service positions ranging from administration to technicians to researchers. Since the NMC makes a significant investment defining, training and managing these positions, those interested must apply through our service program on a competitive basis for a limited number of positions. We require a minimum commitment of 25% level of effort for one year. Depending on the work being done, the NMC may provide OSHA training as well as other training for specific techniques.

Volunteers and Internships
The NMC occasionally has volunteer and internship positions available depending on the needs of specific research projects. These positions are generally unpaid unless funded as a part of a special program. These positions provide invaluable work experience to motivated young people.
