4th Southwest Fire Ecology Conference Takes Place November 18-22 in Santa Fe
The New Mexico Consortium and Los Alamos National Laboratory are a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Southwest Fire Ecology Conference which takes place November 18-22 at the La Fonda on the Plaza in historic downtown Santa Fe.
This conference, hosted by the Southwest Fire Science Consortium, Arizona Wildfire Initiative, and the Association for Fire Ecology, brings together professionals to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and discuss the latest advancements in fire ecology research and management with a focus on the southwestern United States. The Center for Applied Fire Science (CAFES) group at the New Mexico Consortium and the fire science team at LANL work to advance next generation tools, technologies, and science in support of wildland fire management. The fire science teams of both NMC (through CAFES) and LANL will present their research in both orals and posters, highlighted by a special poster session hosted by NMC and LANL on Tuesday at 4:00 PM. The poster session will feature a technology table, highlighting The IntELiMon terrestrial lidar monitoring program, and FastFuels developed by the CAFES team; QUICFire, developed by LANL; and 3D model visualization tools developed by our partners at SciVista.
The Southwest Fire Ecology Conference will be an excellent opportunity for the CAFES team to build new and existing partnerships with collaborators throughout the southwest.
