New Mexico Consortium Celebrates Scholarship Recipients Supporting New Mexico’s Future Workforce

The New Mexico Consortium (NMC) is proud to support scholarship programs that help students across New Mexico pursue educational and career opportunities while strengthening the state’s future workforce.

NMC partnered with Los Alamos National Laboratory and the LANL Foundation to sponsor the National Security Workforce Four-Year Undergraduate Scholarships, Career Pathways Scholarships, and launched the inaugural Graduate Scholarship program. Funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Plutonium Workforce Development Institutional (PWDI) Partnerships Program, 40 total students pursuing research and careers critical to New Mexico’s national security and innovation ecosystem were awarded National Security Workforce scholarships in 2026 through the LANL Foundation.  A link to the LANL Foundation story about this years’ awardees.

In 2026, NMC partnered with Los Alamos National Laboratory and the LANL Foundation to launch the inaugural National Security Workforce Graduate Scholarship. As the first graduate fellowship scholarship program at the LANL Foundation, this scholarship awarded $85,000 to 14 graduate students pursuing graduate degrees at New Mexico Universities in careers critical to New Mexico’s national security and innovation ecosystem.

2026 LANL Foundation Awards Banquet – National Security Workforce Four-Year and Graduate Scholarship Awardees

Together, these scholarships help create educational pathways for students at every stage of learning including workforce training and technical certifications to advanced graduate research.

The LANL Foundation awarded nearly $1.2 million in four-year scholarships to 163 students across Northern New Mexico. Combined, the Foundation’s scholarship programs have awarded more than $1.4 million to 239 students in 2026, marking the largest scholarship investment in its history.

NMC is honored to support these efforts and invest in the next generation of New Mexico’s scientists, skilled workers, researchers, and community leaders.
