UNM Research & Discovery Week Showcases Innovation and Global Impact November 6-14
The University of New Mexico’s annual Research & Discovery Week will highlight groundbreaking ideas, world-class scholarships, and the power of collaboration across disciplines. This year’s program features two prominent keynote speakers and a community-focused research expo that showcases UNM’s impact across the state.
On Monday, November 13, Dr. Poppy Crum will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building Ballrooms. A neuroscientist, technologist, and musician, Dr. Crum is an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University and former Chief Scientist at Dolby. Her work explores the intersection of technological innovation and the human experience.
The following day, Tuesday, November 14, Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Modrich will deliver a keynote at 4:00 p.m. in Rodey Theater, Popejoy Hall, with a reception beginning at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Modrich, James B. Duke Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at Duke University, was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for uncovering the mechanisms of DNA repair, research with major implications for cancer biology and treatment.
Earlier that same day, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Student Union Building Ballrooms, UNM will host the Research Advances New Mexico Expo. The event will feature research centers and institutes, Grand Challenges research teams, and community-engaged scholars who will share their work with the broader community.
